Hands-On with Rivian App v3: What’s New and What’s Next

Rivian just released version 3 of their mobile app, and it’s a big upgrade.

The whole design feels cleaner and easier to use. There’s better use of space, more thoughtful colors, and key features are easier to find. It’s clear Rivian listened to user feedback when putting this together.

This update also sets the stage for more improvements down the road—especially for new owners going through delivery and setup. But it’s not just about current owners—v3 also starts building the foundation for prospective owner functionality, hinting at tools and features that could support people before they even take delivery.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, hit up the App Store and make sure to update the app!

  1. I downloaded the new android app but still looks like the older app. I’m assuming there is a server side rollout that is needed to see the improvements

    • On iOS if you are running widgets or have the app open and you do the update, you won’t see a change. You have to force close the app (swipe the card away) and then re-open to get the new design. Try that and see if it works.

    • I had to clear app storage, then the new UI shows up. Unfortunately, you need to repair with your vehicle key. I had to do the same thing with my wife’s Android device

  2. Awesome! Great details and walkthrough. Keep it up Jose!
Now that there is a “Vehicle Connectivity” screen, I noticed that both you and I have AT&T as the network provider in our Rivians. I believe that my R1S it was on the Verizon network when I purchased it in 2024. Do you know if Rivian has changed their cellular carrier or does this vary by location?
    Thanks.

  3. Must be iOS only for now. My Android app did go to 3.0.0, but none of these changes are present.

  4. I don’t think it went through. Updated to 3.0 and it looks the same…..software is not exactly great with Rivian so I am not stunned.

  5. PSA for iOS users; if you have widgets and you run the update it will look the same until you force close the app and then re-open to get the new design….smh

  6. The new app is nice, but they’ve removed the iOS Rivian widget feature. That was a major benefit, really hope they bring it back.

  7. On android I had the same issue. After update was not seeing the new UI. I had to go to the app settings delete data and cache. It will wipe your date from the app so you will have to repair with the rivian.
