DoorDash Invests in ALSO to Scale Autonomous Last-Mile Delivery

ALSO just landed a strategic investment from DoorDash, and it comes with something more meaningful than just the check: a multi-year commercial agreement to actually deploy their vehicles at scale.
DoorDash co-founder Stanley Tang is joining the board as an observer, and his framing of the partnership is pretty grounded. Last-mile delivery isn’t just a software problem, it’s a physical one, and the curb access and timing details that make or break a delivery aren’t something you can solve with a generic autonomous platform dropped into an existing vehicle.
That’s basically ALSO’s pitch: build the right vehicle from scratch instead of retrofitting autonomy onto something that wasn’t designed for it.
Whether they can deliver on that at scale is still an open question, but having DoorDash in the corner with a commercial commitment rather than a passive investment gives them a real proving ground. If the TM-Q works inside DoorDash’s network, the autonomous expansion case pretty much writes itself.
