ChargePoint Takes on Charger Vandalism with New Tech

Charger vandalism is a big problem, and ChargePoint is doing something about it. They just announced two new ways to make EV chargers safer: a tough, cut-resistant cable and an alarm system called ChargePoint Protect. Here’s the scoop.

A Stronger, Safer Charging Cable

ChargePoint’s new cable is built to stop thieves in their tracks. It’s made with special materials that make it super hard to cut, but it’s still flexible and easy to use.

The coolest part? They’re sharing this design with other companies to help protect chargers everywhere. These new cables should start rolling out by mid-2025.

ChargePoint Protect: A Smarter Alarm System

The second solution is ChargePoint Protect, an alarm system that uses the charger’s speakers, lights, and screen to scare off vandals. If someone messes with the cable, the alarm goes off and the station owner gets an alert via text or email.

Even better, if you already own a ChargePoint station, you can activate this feature through a free software update starting now.
