Amazon Launches First Rivian Electric Delivery Vans in Canada

Amazon just rolled out its first fleet of electric delivery vans in Canada, putting 50 custom-built Rivian vans to work around Greater Vancouver. It’s the first big step north of the border for the Amazon–Rivian partnership and a major move toward Amazon’s goal of hitting net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

“We’re so excited to launch our first major step toward decarbonizing our delivery fleet in Canada,” said Eva Lorenz, VP and Country Manager for Amazon Canada.

Amazon already has over 25,000 Rivian vans running deliveries across the U.S., and more than 35,000 electric vehicles worldwide that have collectively dropped off 1.5 billion packages. The goal? To hit 100,000 Rivian-built vans on the road by 2030.

Rivian’s VP of B2B Growth, Tom Solomon, said the Canadian expansion is a big deal. “We built this van to be the ultimate fleet vehicle—with safety, comfort, and sustainability in mind,” he said.

It helps that British Columbia runs mostly on renewable power, more than 90% from hydro and wind, so charging the vans is about as clean as it gets. Amazon’s already installed over 32,000 chargers at 180-plus delivery stations across North America to keep the electric fleet moving.

With this launch, Amazon and Rivian are taking their electric delivery partnership global—and Canada’s just the beginning.
