Adient Brings 75 Jobs to Normal as New Rivian Supplier

Rivian’s footprint in Normal is about to grow even bigger, as automotive seating giant Adient announced plans to set up shop right next door to the EV maker’s plant. The move will bring roughly 75 new full-time jobs to McLean County and represents more than $8 million in capital investment.
The announcement came Monday with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and Adient all confirming the deal. Adient, a global leader in automotive seating, will be handling assembly of front and back seat components for Rivian vehicles.
The company will repurpose an 85,000-square-foot warehouse just south of College Avenue, conveniently located adjacent to Rivian’s Normal factory. Nik Duffle, the Town of Normal’s economic development director, said the project will provide a major boost for the region. “Being a job provider and a capital investor in the community will just continue to provide support and stability for the local economy,” Duffle said.
As part of the state’s incentive package, Adient qualified for Illinois’ Reimagining Energy and Vehicles (REV) tax credit program, which rewards companies for investing and creating jobs in the state.
With Rivian continuing to expand production and add new suppliers nearby, this latest development adds another layer of stability to the growing EV hub in Normal.
