ABRP Launches Native Integration with Rivian Vehicles for Real-Time Data

A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) has been hard at work to integrate natively with Rivian vehicles ever since before Rivian purchased the parent company in June 2023. A few months ago, ABRP reached out to me and asked if I would like to beta test their new native Rivian integration which would pull live data from my Rivian R1T into the app and help populate real-time driving data, take into account the weather and traffic, and more.

A few months later, ABRP is now thrilled to announce that it has released an update to allow Rivian owners to natively integrate their Rivian R1T or R1S directly with ABRP by simply logging into your Rivian account after you’ve set up your vehicle in the ABRP app.

Rivian owners who integrate directly with ABRP will unlock the following live data:

  • State of Charge (SoC)
  • Voltage
  • Power Consumption
  • Range
  • Outside temperature
  • Battery temperature
  • Battery capacity
  • Calibrated reference consumption
  • Odometer
  • Location
  • Elevation
  • Initial Vehicle temperature
  • Reference speed
  • Maximum speed
  • Departure State of Charge

With all this data directly being fed into the ABRP app, you can now use the ABRP app to plan road trips and get accurate information on your departing SoC, outside temperature, and how it’ll impact your range, your remaining battery capacity (how much battery degradation have you had), more.

My favorite feature is the Calibrate Reference Consumption charge! With this feature, the ABRP app will measure your consumption rate at low, medium, and high speeds to provide you with the most accurate estimate for when you arrive at your next destination. The closer your bar graph gets to 100% for each segment, the more accurate the data will be. Note: I asked if the bar graphs could ever get to 100% and the answer is no. You can get close to it but ABRP will never say an estimate is 100% because nothing is perfect.

To be able to integrate your Rivian vehicle directly with ABRP, you can use the free plan on the app but if you subscribe to the Premium plan, you’ll be able to unlock the ability to use multiple vehicles. You can sign up for just $5/mo (month-to-month) or $50/yr (annual). With this plan, you’ll unlock the live vehicle settings, drive history, live traffic, live weather, and multiple vehicles.

Editor’s Note: ABRP invited me to join the beta and test out these new features. I did pay for the annual premium subscription and was not compensated or provided a discount.
