Ryan from The Kilowatts recently reached out to Rivian to see how much it would cost to add the Darkout Package to his Gen 2 R1Safter delivery. For reference, the Darkout Package, which includes Gunmetal skid plates and Black badging, is a $750 option when selected at the time of purchase.
Retrofitting it later, however, isn’t so budget-friendly. Rivian’s quote revealed a total cost of $2,381, broken down into parts pricing and labor.

Why It’s Best to Add the Darkout Package at Purchase
At $750 from the factory, the Darkout Package is a no-brainer for those who want the sleek, blackout look. Retrofitting later costs over three times as much due to both the parts cost and the labor to remove and replace the original skid plates and badging.
If you’re configuring your Gen 2 R1S or R1T, this is an option to consider upfront.
Would you pay over $2,000 for the Darkout look after the fact, or is this a factory-only add-on for you? Let me know your thoughts!
So who do I need to contact at Rivian to order some of these parts? Really all I want is the front and side halos to be darkout.
You would have to submit a service ticket with Rivian and see if they can split the items up, its unlikely if I had to take a wild guess.
Darkout Package is not loner available to be selected for R1S Dual Standard configuration. Any insight if Rivian will bring it back for R1S Dual Standard built?
