Rivian’s “Go Chime” Feature Coming in 2025.06 Update, Gen 1 Support Confirmed for the Future

Rivian’s upcoming 2025.06 over-the-air update is bringing a small but useful new feature called Go Chime. If you’ve ever been at a stoplight, zoned out for a second (maybe on your phone), and didn’t realize the car in front of you had already moved, this feature has your back. When you’re stopped, Go Chime will give you an alert when the vehicle ahead starts driving away.

Wassym confirms that Go Chime will come to Gen 1

When we first shared this feature, many owners were surprised (and a little frustrated) to see that it was listed as a Gen 2 R1-only feature. Naturally, people started wondering why Gen 1 R1 vehicles weren’t getting it. Thankfully, Rivian’s Wassym Bensaid chimed in on Reddit to clear things up. He confirmed that Go Chime will be coming to Gen 1 R1 vehicles at some point—it just needs more work due to the different hardware and software architecture between Gen 1 and Gen 2.

While we don’t have an exact timeline for when Gen 1 owners will get this feature, it’s great to hear that it’s in the pipeline.
