Rivian Navigation with Google Maps
We teamed up with Google Maps to build a navigation product that specifically supports Rivian’s EV driver experience. This major release provides the following from Google Maps, both in-vehicle and in the Rivian mobile app:
- Routes and live traffic
- Real-time road incidents
- Tappable points of interest you can select and explore
- Search powered by Google Maps
- Satellite imagery that refreshes regularly (Connect+ subscription required)
This release also includes a new map style, easier access to Home and Work locations, and an option to see range as percentage, distance, or both.
Driver Assistance Improvements
You can now use Driver Assistance features when an electrical accessory is connected to the tow hitch of your vehicle. To enable this, go to Drive Modes > Trailers and select Accessory.
- An accessory is defined as a vehicle attachment that doesn’t have an axle and isn’t directly supported by the ground. It’s your responsibility to select the correct profile when towing a trailer.
- Driver assistance features may not work as designed if a large electrical accessory is attached in the rear of the vehicle.
Rivian Adventure Network
The Rivian Adventure Network now has off-peak pricing on many sites, offering you the flexibility to save by charging at off-peak hours throughout the day.
Additional Improvements
- Improved the performance of remote address sharing.
- Improved the stability of the infotainment system.
- Fixed a rare issue that prevented the Apple Music sign-in screen from opening.
- Improved AC charging stability and fault handling.
- Fixed a rare issue with Multi-factor Drive that allowed drivers to shift the vehicle out of P (Park) without requiring second factor. (Thanks, Kilowatts, for the report.)
- Fixed an issue that caused a delay when using proximity unlock with an Apple iPhone 14 phone key.
- In the Energy Monitor tab in the Energy app, fixed an issue that prevented the last unit selecting from persisting. (Thanks, u/caj_account, for the report.)
- Fixed an issue in the Energy Monitor tab of the Energy app session details for Park and Drive that will cause charging, park, and drive session data to reset during this software update.
- Fixed an issue that caused an erroneous pre-conditioning not available warning to appear on the charging screen.
- Fixed an issue on some vehicles that allowed an incorrect backlight brightness to load onto the displays.

All New Launch Cam
On Tri- and Quad-Motor vehicles, you can now capture and relive Launch mode events from five camera angles, along with an overlay of a live telemetry feed that includes reaction time, peak G-force, 0-60, and quarter-mile times. To use this feature, go to Video > Launch in the center display, and turn on Record video during launch events.

Go Chime now provides a chime only when Driver Attention Detection confirms the driver is not looking at the road when a vehicle ahead drives away. Go Chime no longer chimes when the Driver Attention Detection feature confirms the driver is looking at the road ahead.
When the vehicle comes to a stop while Adaptive Cruise Control or Highway Assist is engaged, and Driver Attention Detection confirms the driver is looking at the road ahead, the vehicle now extends the active period of the driver assistance feature before pausing.
Introducing New Vehicle Dynamics Handling Control Logic
We developed a new control software to allow a greater separation between Ride and Handling maneuvers across all Drive modes, resulting in improved ride comfort on straightaways and improved roll control during cornering. Benefits to Drive modes include:
- All-Purpose – Reduced ride trade-offs between casual driving and spirited driving
- Sport – Increased roll damping during sustained cornering
- Rally – Enhanced composure over rough terrain to deliver a more engaging and comfortable driving experience
- Rock Crawl – Improved body control during low-speed, cross-axle articulation scenarios

- Improved climate control cool-down speed and steady state comfort in hot weather.
- Improved the performance of remote address sharing.
- Improved the stability of the infotainment system.
- Fixed a rare issue that prevented the Apple Music sign-in screen from opening.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused a power draw after an AC charging session.

Nice to see the improvements but none really matter to me. Driver assistance still sucks on the Gen 1 trucks, thank god there is Comma.AI. Still waiting for Gen 1 launch mode. Perhaps they can implement software updates to add active noise cancellation, which would help reduce wind noise. While you are at it, do something to help with the vampire drain. It was better after the update 2 versions ago, but after the last one, it was maybe worse than ever.
Vampire drain hasn’t changed for me – about 1%/day. I wonder what’s causing it for you – have you tried a full reset? I’ve seen reports of things getting stuck on that cause excess drain (though not for a while now).
Virtually no vampire drain for me either. I’ve had mine parked up for the past week and I think it’s gone from 68-66%.
Yup. Still 1%\day vampire in gen1 quad.
Yes driver+ is in serious need of updating. Why does my car follow black seams in the asphalt more readily than the white lines painted on top of it. If comma can do it why can’t the native software in the car??
Any idea when we will see text integrated? They keep promising!
Good updates, still waiting on the Launch Control for Gen 1 Quad motor.
I’ve been trying for over 3 months to purchase a KEY FOB to replace my lost key fob! I can’t believe that there’s no replacements or everyone has lost theirs, which may very well be possible, as the latch is known to easily open on it’s own. Unlike the GEN2 key fob!
My Lord! When are they going to release this already!?
Hopefully after the bugs are worked out so we don’t have a mess.
The 2FA is not a reliable method having to approve it via your phone app. What if I’m in an area without cel service? What if I only have my FOB, or key card? Or I’ve loaned my vehicle to someone? Tesla simply requires a passcode, like an ATM, called pin-to-drive which works perfectly.
You can now use Driver Assistance features when an electrical accessory is connected to the tow hitch of your vehicle. To enable this, go to Drive Modes > Trailers and select Accessory.
This will be a GREAT FEATURE. Our two e-bikes block the tail lights so brake lights and especially blinkers are nearly impossible for the car behind us to see. This is a MUST SAFETY FEATURE that can’t come soon enough.
Still no fix for crappy PaaK and app/car wake up when using the app when the car is asleep.
Why no New Vehicle Dynamics Handling Control Logic on Gen1? It is basically the same hardware and it will definitely need to improve ride handling both on and off road.
It originally did include it but Rivian pulled it for the final release.
Maybe it was delayed, hopefully we can see the update on next release.
This latest update states “Improved AC charging stability and fault handling.” I’m hoping it resolves the following behavior that started with the June update.
Ever since the June update I’ve been randomly getting an alert when plugging in to charge at home. The alert states “AC charging performance reduced for this session. Try another charger.” I estimate the alert comes up about 60-70% of the time, just after I plug into my EVSE. Never seen the alert in 1-year of ownership prior to the last software update. Interestingly, actual charging behavior/rates appears to be unaffected.
I have this issue in hands off mode when driving next to a center divider, the car seems to have swerved towards the center divide and i had to manually disengage the mode. Not sure how that would happen but has happened twice in the last 2 weeks. Any ideas as to what am i missing?
It happens all the time with this driver plus assistant! It’s the crappiest and the most dangerous driver + I have ever experienced and I have driven lots of cars with driver assistant!
While Google maps is a very welcome update I have to second many other Rivian owners who have expressed a very negative reviews of our current Driver + assistant. Car constantly loses a lane on a well marked freeway and jerks violently right or left, the car ALWAYS drives way too close to the right lane and as a result is extremely close to a car next to you on the right. It happens all the time with this driver plus assistant! It’s the crappiest and the most dangerous driver + I have ever experienced and I have driven lots of cars with driver assistant!
Rivian better address this issue ASAP. Huge disappointment!
