Enhanced Highway Assist

The Rivian Autonomy Platform+ adds a new advanced feature to enhance the highway driving experience. Enhanced Highway Assist allows you to use Highway Assist while letting go of the steering wheel for extended periods, in certain driving situations, as long as you’re looking at the road. Enhanced Highway Assist relies on Driver Attention Detection to confirm that you’re paying attention to the road ahead of you.

When Highway Assist is active, flashing hands appear around the Highway Assist icon to indicate the availability of Enhanced Highway Assist. To use Enhanced Highway Assist, take your hands off the steering wheel and pay attention to the road head.

Enhanced High Assist and Driver Attention Detection are turned on by default with this software update. To manage these features, go to Settings > Vehicle > Driver Assistance or Settings > Data and Privacy on the center display. For more information, open the Owner’s Guide and search for Enhanced Highway Assist.

IMPORTANT
Enhanced Highway Assist is a driver assistance feature and doesn’t replace the driver’s attention, judgment, and need to control the vehicle. Always monitor traffic and road conditions, and be prepared to brake or steer as needed.

New Driver Assistance Feature: Go Chime

While you’re at a stop, Go Chime alerts you when the vehicle ahead of you drivers away. Go Chime is turned on by default. To turn off Go Chime, go to Settings > Vehicle > Driver Assistance on the center display.

  1. Great update.

So for the go chime, does it not work if you’re in the front of a line at a stop light (aka green light chime)?

  2. I would love to see the issue fixed where setting the rear display to ‘LOCKED’ is no longer honored when the vehicle wakes from sleep until the option is unlocked and re-locked. If you have a 3-year-old, this is something of a sanity issue

    • That was mentioned on the Gen2 notes but not Gen1. Hoping it was just left off this list because I’ve got older kids and they miss being able to say hi to Gary

  3. Any chance we will see the ability to read USB media storage down the road? Would also be nice to have hands-free text read/response.

    Thanks!
    Rade

  4. Good update, the team is great at rolling meaningful updates, so that is positive.

I’m very disappointed that Rivian has seemingly fully abandoned Gen 1 Driver+. This is an area where they overpromised and vastly under delivered.

BRING LAUNCH MODE TO GEN 1 Quad and Dual Performance!

  5. Anything that improves vampire drain is worth updating but the tire selection is cool too. I just always worry about the things they don’t tell you they changed, lol.

    • I agree, vampire drain is real serious issue for gen1 r1t… I also think driver display should be enhanced to make left , right turn display way better.

  6. So I upgraded everything to the latest app in the mobile and the vehicle software. I still can’t find how to remotely unlock the charge port without unlocking the vehicle. Can you help and let us know how to do that? Thanks

    • You can add charge port toggle switch on notification/control center on iPhone and it works without latest software on 1st gen vehicle. I tried that and it works flawlessly.

  7. When is Rivian providing an updated integrated phone and messaging interface. The current interface is very basic and mostly useless. Text notifications, read out texts and reply would be really helpful.
