Rivian R1T and R1S Get Their First Aluminum Running Boards From EV Sportline

Friend and sponsor of RivianTrackr, EV Sportline, is kicking off Black Friday with a pretty big first for the Rivian platform. They’ve officially launched the world’s first aluminum running boards for the Rivian R1T and R1S, and it’s a smart evolution of one of the most popular Rivian accessories out there.

tl;dr

  • EV Sportline launched the first aluminum running boards for the Rivian R1T and R1S
  • Lightweight aluminum design cuts weight nearly in half compared to steel and will not rust
  • Clean, factory-style look with welded tread plates and stainless steel brackets
  • Pricing starts at $1,299.95, or $1,699.90 with aero cover plates
  • Black Friday sale offers 15% off with code BLACK15, shipping begins December 15

Team 1EV’s RMaxx running boards were already known for their factory-like fit and clean design, and this new aluminum version keeps that same OEM look while improving weight and materials. The frames and tread plates are now made from lightweight aluminum, making these the lightest running boards on the market. Aluminum won’t rust, even if the powder coating gets scratched, which is a big win for long-term durability.

The tread plates are now welded instead of bolted, which means a cleaner look with no exposed hardware and a much easier install. EV Sportline also upgraded the brackets to 300-series stainless steel, so the entire setup is essentially rust-proof. They even removed the frame end caps in favor of hidden weld joints for an even more factory-style finish.

Weight savings are significant. The aluminum running boards weigh 22 lb per side on the R1T and 18 lb per side on the R1S. For comparison, the steel versions weigh 41 lb per side on the R1T and 34 lb per side on the R1S.

I’ve personally been running the steel version on my Gen 1 R1T and now on both my Gen 2 R1T and R1S, and they’re easily a must-have accessory for easier entry and everyday usability. I did ask about aluminum rock sliders, but EV Sportline confirmed steel is still required for heavy-duty use.

Pricing comes in at $1,299.95 for the running boards and $1,699.90 with aero cover plates, for both R1T and R1S.

For Black Friday, EV Sportline is offering 15% off, including these boards. Use code BLACK15 at checkout. Shipping begins December 15.
