Best Credit Cards for EV Charging Rewards in 2025

I’m a credit card rewards nerd so after much research, I felt like sharing my findings in credit cards that reward EV drivers. A growing number of credit cards now give bonus points or cash back when you plug in, and some of the deals are surprisingly good.

The standout option is the PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa Signature. It gives you 5x points at EV charging stations, which is about as high as it gets. The trade-off is that points can’t be redeemed for straight cash back, only for travel, gift cards, or merchandise. You’ll also need a PenFed membership, but anyone can join.

Here are some of the best credit cards for EV charging right now:

If you’re looking for the absolute highest return on charging, PenFed and Sam’s Club lead the pack. For broader rewards across everyday spending, U.S. Bank’s Altitude Connect or Wells Fargo’s Autograph are solid picks. And if you’re already shopping at Costco or using AAA, their cards could be the most convenient fit.

Bottom line, charging your EV doesn’t just have to cost you money, it can actually pay you back if you’ve got the right card in your wallet.

  1. My go to:

Mesa Card – By referral for now, is a good option. 2x pts, but has other benefits. Sweet spot is to redeem for hotels @ 8-9% back. (Oddly TSC monthly membership is NOT included in the pts bonus)
Discover Card has 5x back for EV charging many times a year.

  2. Chase Freedom card does quarterly bonus rotations.
5% for one quarter and with Chase sapphire Reserve that pushes it to 10% once you transfer your points.
If you transfer it to Hyatt that 5% is up to 30%, but on average about 15%.
