Is Rivian working on a Tri-Motor R1T/R1S? Based on documents submitted to the NHTSA, Rivian has added an additional variant under “Tri-Motor” and a trim called “Premium” for the 2025 model year VIN decoder. Until Rivian shares official information, this is all pure speculation. Source: NHTSA
Rivian is emailing customers who have a Rivian R1 to inform them that they are “temporarily pausing custom configurations as we (Rivian) prepare for some retooling and improvements at our (Rivian Normal) plant.” The email also advertises an R1S with a Standard battery starting at $74,900 with deliveries within 1-4 weeks.
Rivian is simplifying pricing by moving all customers to today’s pricing and then providing preorder holders a voucher to honor original preorder pricing. Preorder holders will have until September 30, 2024, to use this voucher or you will lose the preorder pricing. tl;dr – use it or lose it It makes sense, you can’t continue to honor old pricing forever…
