Rivian Just Made the Fastest, Most Capable R1 Ever
The Rivian Quad-Motor Launch Edition isn’t just fast, it’s insanely capable, with more power, more range, and more control than any Rivian before it.
Rivian Quad-Motor Launch Edition Built for the Extremes
Rivian has officially launched its next-generation Quad-Motor R1T and R1S, delivering incredible power, precision, and performance to both the R1S SUV and R1T pickup. This isn’t just a drivetrain upgrade, it’s a complete redefinition of what these electric vehicles can do.
Whether you’re carving through mountain switchbacks or rock crawling through the wilderness, the new Quad is built for extremes. It delivers up to 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft of torque, pushing 0-60 times down to just 2.5 seconds. And thanks to four independent motors, torque is sent precisely to each wheel for incredible traction in any condition.
Insane Power, Smart Control
At the heart of the Rivian Quad-Motor Launch Edition is an all-new drive system built entirely in-house. It pairs dual front motors tuned for cruising efficiency with dual rear motors engineered for explosive acceleration. The result is a powerhouse that can conquer trails, tear up pavement, and everything in between.
In Conserve mode, the rear motors can automatically disconnect to boost range, helping the Quad hit up to 400 miles when efficiency matters most. Each motor is oil-cooled to stay chill under pressure, whether you’re crawling rocks or blazing highways. And with true four-wheel torque vectoring, the Quad instantly adapts to deliver maximum grip, balance, and control across any terrain.
Designed to Go Hard, and Look Good Doing It
Inside, the new Ascend trim sets a new standard for luxury and craftsmanship. Rivian’s most premium interior yet features quilted seats, extended stitching, cut-and-sew material throughout the cabin, and deep bronze metal finishes across the dash, door panels, and speaker grilles. Even the backs of the front seats are wrapped in soft-touch fabric.

Outside, Quad models are easy to spot with Laguna Beach Blue brake calipers, unique badging, and subtle touches like the Gear Guard mascot with windblown hair, a nod to the vehicle’s wild acceleration. Also included are exclusive features like a Dynamic Glass Roof, Rivian Premium Audio, reinforced underbody shield, onboard air compressor, and the full Darkout Package. Quad models offer four unique wheel and tire packages as standard.

Kick Turn helps you pivot in tight off-road spots by adjusting wheel torque for quick, controlled turns. It’s performance tech built for adventure.

With the launch of the the quad motor and the edition of the two different wheel options, I hope to see Rivian offer the graphite Dune wheels as a stand-alone purchase in the gear shop. I know they will be in my cart if they become available!
Love to see NACS standard on a Rivian! But what does this mean for accessories? Like have they announced a Rivian Wall Charger with NACS?
I presume the RAD feature gets updated for other vehicles as well in the future. I wonder if it’s possible to bring kick-turn to the tai-motor. In theory you could do it by doing no power to one front wheel, and using back motors. especially if you’re using it for a true kick-turn now under motion. #dreams.
Any idea if the RAD tuner is coming to other, older models?
Have you heard anything about retrofits for other gen 2s to get NACS? Would love to have the option even if it was a paid retrofit
I haven’t but I can’t be sure they would offer it as that would just increase service appointments and that isn’t something Rivian can handle right now.
I hope Rivian will opt the Gen 1 R1S- Quad motor owners to purchase or have Rivian install the G.G. Gary on the lift gate. Not retaining the yellow highlights for the Quad versions may have impact on future sales if no one sees or can recognize a Quad R1S or R1T at this new price point.
