Rivian Lands Major Fleet Deal with HelloFresh with 70 Electric Vans
Rivian just landed its first major fleet customer since opening up commercial van sales to the public earlier this year—and it’s a big one.
HelloFresh, best known for its meal kits and prepared food brand Factor, has officially added 70 all-electric Rivian Commercial Vans to its delivery fleet. That shift has already led to some impressive results: over 200 tonnes of CO2 emissions saved, which Rivian says is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 300 acres of U.S. forest.
The vans are wrapped in Factor branding and operate primarily in dense urban markets, where electric vehicles really shine. Thanks to optimized last-mile routing and shorter delivery distances, HelloFresh says it’s not only cutting fuel emissions but also trimming down packaging needs by 6–10% per box. Less insulation, fewer ice packs, and reduced food waste—because faster deliveries mean fresher meals.
Since launching the partnership, HelloFresh’s electric vans have racked up over 250,000 miles, avoiding the use of around 20,000 gallons of gasoline. That now brings nearly a quarter of HelloFresh’s U.S. delivery fleet into EV territory.
“We’re taking this opportunity to showcase Factor’s dedication to sustainability,” said Nunzio Di Savino, VP of U.S. Logistics for HelloFresh. “By adding the Rivian Commercial Van into our fleet, not only have we cut our CO2 emissions, but we’re also helping clean the air in the cities we operate in.”
Rivian’s VP of B2B Growth, Tom Solomon, echoed that sentiment, noting that HelloFresh’s large delivery footprint makes this a big win not just for one company—but for the communities these vans drive through every day. “They’ve helped reduce carbon output and improve air quality in cities across the U.S.,” Solomon said.
The vans themselves are purpose-built from the ground up for commercial use, with Rivian’s in-house software stack powering fleet management and helping reduce total cost of ownership. Features like automatic emergency braking, collision warnings, and 360-degree visibility also make them some of the safest commercial vans on the road.
To keep everything running smoothly, HelloFresh is also working with Ryder and their RyderElectric+ platform, which will provide leasing, advisory, and maintenance services as the company scales its EV efforts.
If you’re keeping tabs on Rivian’s push beyond consumer vehicles, this is one of the biggest signs yet that their commercial van is gaining real traction.
