Rivian Ends Free Adventure Network Charging in Referral Program Update

Rivian has made some changes to its referral program, Rivian Rewards, and one of the biggest updates is that Rivian Adventure Network charging perks are no longer part of the deal. Starting March 11, 2025, qualifying referrals will no longer receive six months of free Rivian Adventure Network charging. If you already have pending referrals from before that date, don’t worry—you’ll still get your promised six months of free charging. But moving forward, new referrals will only earn 500 points, which can be used in the Rivian Gear Shop.
At first glance, this might seem like a downgrade, but let’s be honest—was anyone really maxing out the three-year limit on free charging from referrals? Probably not. The 500 points you get instead are arguably more useful since they can go toward accessories, gear, and other things you’d actually pick out yourself. Plus, with Rivian’s Adventure Network pricing continuing to rise (as we previously reported), it makes sense for them to cut this perk to keep things financially sustainable.
Rivian has been focused on maintaining gross profit positivity, and giving away tons of free charging while simultaneously increasing pricing on that same network doesn’t exactly align with that goal. It’s one of those changes that might feel like a loss, but in reality, most owners are likely to get more value from points they can spend rather than free fast charging they might not even need.
So, while the Adventure Network perk is going away, the referral program is still alive, and Rivian is continuing to reward owners for bringing in new customers—just in a way that makes more financial sense for them. And, honestly, if you’ve got Rivian friends signing up, chances are you’ll find something worthwhile to grab with those points.
