Rivian’s 2025.06 Update Will Let Owners Swap Wheels Without a Service Visit
Rivian’s upcoming 2025.06 software update is bringing a long-requested feature to R1T and R1S owners: software-based Wheel Swap.
Currently, if you want to change your wheels or tires to a different size, you have to make a service appointment so Rivian can update the vehicle’s software accordingly. But starting with this OTA update, owners will be able to swap wheels and adjust the settings themselves right from the vehicle’s software.
This is a huge convenience boost. Whether you’re switching to all-terrain tires for an off-road trip, putting on winter wheels, or just upgrading to a new style, you won’t have to involve Rivian Service anymore. It should also help reduce service demand, freeing up appointments for more critical issues.
Even more interesting is what this means for Gen 1 vs. Gen 2 compatibility. Wassym confirmed that Gen 2 wheels are fully compatible with Gen 1 vehicles, and this update will allow owners to select them within the software. That’s great news for early Rivian adopters who want to take advantage of the newer wheel designs without compatibility headaches.
Stay tuned to the ultimate Rivian software news source, RivianTrackr, for when we see this feature go live!
Why are owners of Gen 1 not being notified of updates? Wheel swap? That very important for Canadians with winter tires.
This 2025.06 update has not be released yet but will be soon. Wassym is just sharing this information on social media and not through any official channel.
Jose,
I currently have R1S Gen 1 with 20” wheel AT. I am planning to swap out my current tires with the Michelin MTX M/S2 275/60R20 tires. Which wheel setting would I switch to? 21” wheel?
